BREAKING NEWS (Davisson-J, 2023)

One of the most mesmerizing faces in the garden, BREAKING NEWS is an 8" lilac with a greyed-lavender watermark and an irregular diamond-dusted applique throat that splatters out onto the petals. Registered as a large flower, it will sometimes take on unusual form shapes and the irregularity of the applique will vary from day to day as the summer heats up. Scapes are 30" with 4-way branching averaging 17 buds. From a cross of EPICENTER x TATTERED HEART, it starts blooming early-midseason and often reblooms for an extended season of bloom. Fragrant, too, so it is a perfect front-of-the-border plant. Easily fertile both ways with semi-evergreen plant habit and lots of hybridizing potential for fancy faces. Tetraploid.
